How to use NLP to train our brains

How will you react?

Our weekly Team NLP blog where you will find inspiration and actionable advice on how to build healthy habits, resilience, and connections in our unprecedented times.

At the start of 2020 I set myself a goal of writing a blog weekly throughout the year to share our ideas and experiences from what we have learnt over the years from NLP.  I have almost made that goal, just missed one or two weeks.  Yesterday as I looked back over them, I realised that the blogs tell a story of an unprecedented year filled with many different emotions and reactions.  I will put all the blogs together in the NY and share this journey with you all.  Reading some of them back now and listening to the disappointing news yesterday, I am reminded that we cannot control what goes on outside our field of influence, but we can control how we respond and how to deal with the uncertainty and ambiguity around us.  We can pick ourselves up and move forwards with gratitude for whatever we can create for ourselves and our families.  Some peoples’ health and careers have suffered so much more than others.  My husband is in the hospitality trade, so I have been personally touched by that, and at Team NLP, we have had to reinvent ourselves and take all our programmes on-line.  And all of us have been impacted by the incessant uncertainty of 2020 and the fear of a deadly virus.  These things have not been easy to deal with.  So, let’s be grateful for each other, compassionate to all those in need, be proud of whatever we have managed to create this year and keep our loved ones safe this holiday time.

We look ahead to 2021 with both uncertainty and optimism that the human spirit will prevail, and we will get back to a new normal as soon as is possible.

Merry Christmas from Lindsey and all at Team NLP

How to use NLP to train our brains

What are you doing to focus for 2021?

Our weekly Team NLP blog where you will find inspiration and actionable advice on how to build healthy habits, resilience, and connections in our unprecedented times.

Yesterday we ran our first ever Team NLP conference.  It was all about how to make 2021 a year to remember.  We had five amazing keynote speakers all home grown NLP trainers from Team NLP.  Our conference is one of the ways we have to help our trainers to develop and grow and we want to at least double the size of the agenda for December 2021!   Here is a snippet of the key messages from each of their talks along with an invitation for you to access all the recording for free.

Tonje Elisabeth Aaroe

Tonje spoke about the importance of being in peak state to be able to achieve what you want in 2021.  She took us through our paces with some practical tips with how to get into state fast. One was to stand up and put your right leg in front of your left like you are ready to race.  Then bend your arms at the elbows also as if you are ready to run fast.  Then for 30 seconds move your arms, one at a time, backwards and forwards as fast as you can.  Almost like sprinting on the spot.  See what that does to your energy levels and your state!  If you feel low energy it really works!  The key message I took away was that if you spend a day in a lousy state it is a day lost that you will never get back.  It’s all about creating belief and energy in your body.

Tracey Gray

Tracey spoke about the collective intelligence we have between our head, heart and gut brains.  Have you ever had a time when you thought you had a brilliant idea but your gut feelings held you back?  We learnt how to align our three intelligences and how to get them to work together for us.  Tracey got us to think about a decision we have made where there were several complex factors to consider and we made an effective decision… which of the intelligences or brains did we use?

Was it logic, values or gut instinct that had the final say….was there consensus?

Then we compared it with a decision that didn’t go well it seemed like a good idea at the time, what was different? Which did we not listen to? What did we learn from that?

Sophie Baker

Sophie spoke about our values – what they are and how they are critical to our success.  They are basically what is most important to us.  She asked us to consider what our values had been at the start of 2020 and how they have changed.  Here are some questions for you to consider:

  • What was most important to you at the start of 2020?
  • Then ask what is most important now?
  • What has changed?
  • What is the impact of this for your 2021?

We discovered that for many of us our values had significantly changed especially around the areas of family, friends, travel, walking and so on.  How have yours changed?

Anton Micaleff

Our resident osteopath and nutritionist talked about the importance of a good diet going into 2021 and moving away from acidic and towards alkaline foods.  He gave us a food chart that contains examples of both types of foods and drinks which I have added here.

He said that the effect nutrition, foods, and supplements have on your body are not as well understood in medicine and therefore in the treatment of illness and disease.  There is always a way you can change your diet and lifestyle that is likely to influence the way you are feeling.  Whenever you are feeling under the weather, first ask yourself the following – ‘What am I doing or putting in my body to make me feel this way’.

Lindsey Agness

I closed the conference talking about how to set a goal that works in 2021.  A goal need to be important and have meaning to you as opposed to what you think you should be doing!  And, small goals as well as big goals are good.  Did you know that to make a 1% improvement each day will improve your results by 40% over a year!  We each set a goal and put that goal in our future timeline and learnt how to get alignment between our conscious mind (the goal setter) and our unconscious mind (the goal getter).

Looking forward to co-creating 2021 with you.  Here is your link again to sign up to the conference now to get the recordings.  This is time limited as we will move all recordings into our members platform in due course.
